„Development of a multi-step plasma process for the direct metallization of plastic surfaces“

The objective of this project is the development of an environmental friendly coating process for the direct metallization of plastic materials using one single batch in the plasma reactor and to build a demonstration equipment for vacuum coatings.

The aim is also to make coatings on plastics affordable for the automotive mass market, allowing surfaces free of chromium-VI and nickel.

This research and development project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the Research Program” SME – innovative: research for production” (fund number 02PK2025) and managed by the PTKA Project Management Agency Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe Technology Institute (PTKA).
